In a comprehensive four‑week trial conducted in June–July 2025, Arborgreen tested Wiltnot (a frost protectant) and SenTree (a browsing deterrent) together on native seedlings to assess compatibility, safety, and efficacy in revegetation projects.
Confirm there are no adverse effects when both products are applied simultaneously
Monitor plant health, leaf browning, wilting, and mortality
Evaluate performance under normal and triple label-rate application
Location: Nursery setting, Strathalbyn SA
Species: 12 native species—Eucalyptus, Acacia, Banksia, Allocasuarina, Olearia
Seedlings: 120 total (5 of each species per treatment batch)
Treatments:
Batch 1: Label rate (Wiltnot 50 mL/L + SenTree per label)
Batch 2: 3× label rate to simulate over-application
Assessment: Weekly checks for 4 weeks
0% mortality, even at 3× label rate
No wilting observed
Minor leaf browning, seasonal rather than dose-dependent
All seedlings rated Excellent or Good by trial end
Healthy new growth by Week 4 in most species
SenTree effectiveness: untreated controls showed grazing damage; treated seedlings remained untouched
APVMA‑approved, patented formula exclusive to Arborgreen and developed with Agriculture Victoria.
Three‑part system: egg powder (odor), adhesive (stick), grit (texture)—combined to create both sensory and physical deterrence.
Non‑toxic to wildlife; effective against rabbits, kangaroos, wallabies, and pademelons and other browsing animals.
One 15 L kit can treat up to ~9,000 seedlings, lasting around 12 weeks per application.
Proven results: treated seedlings lose <10% foliage vs ~50% loss in untreated controls within 3 weeks.
Water‑emulsifiable polymer that forms a biodegradable, semi‑permeable film on foliage, reducing transpiration by up to 50% and mitigating climate‑related stress.
Guards against frost, UV, windburn, drought, shipping/transplant shock, and maintains leaf moisture.
Biodegrades in 30–60 days; does not inhibit photosynthesis or leaf expansion.
Typical rate: 50 mL per 1 L water for trees/shrubs; thicker mix (1 L to ~30–40 L water) for frost protection.
During the final weeks of the trial, a rabbit entered the nursery, stripping the leaves of many of the seedlings that had not been part of the trial, as well as the control seedlings.
The seedlings that had received SenTree in both the standard rate and the x3 application rate remained untouched. This demonstrated the effectiveness of Sentree in deterring browsing.
The rabbit was captured and subsequently released. No animals were harmed in the process of this trial.
This trial highlights that applying SenTree and Wiltnot concurrently is safe and effective, even at three times the recommended dose. With zero mortality, healthy growth, and strong deterrent action from grazing animals, the combination offers robust protection for large-scale revegetation as well as nursery applications.
